Blue Mountains Mayor, Mark Greenhill has renewed his call for all ward 4 candidates to declare their position on Badgerys Creek airport.
Last week on social media, the mayor called for all ward 4 candidates in the September 10 council elections to declare their position.
"This is a massive issue in ward 4. What we need most, on the biggest planning decision for generations, is unity. So far my Labor team and Greens have made the declaration but I am waiting to hear from the others running,” he said.
"Rather than be negative, I am making this a positive call for unity on an issue that affects the people of ward 4 dramatically. Let us all publicly declare our total opposition to any airport at Badgerys Creek.

"Let's make the airport a unity issue rather than a political issue. Last week, thanks to Susan Templeman, I was able to send our message to Canberra when I handed Bill Shorten council's submission.”
In response to the mayor’s call, ward 4 Liberal Party councillor Brendan Christie fell short of offering his outright opposition to the airport, instead opposing flight paths over Mountains homes.
“All Liberal candidates are on the same page on this issue,” he said.
“We are strongly opposed to any flight paths over residential areas in the Blue Mountains and we will continue to fight to prevent this from occurring. I appreciate Cr Greenhill is keen to make the campaign against the airport his election issue, but the fact is we have all been working together on it.”
