The White Ribbon Workplace Program could be introduced at Blue Mountains City Council.
At the council’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, mayor Mark Greenhill put forward a mayoral minute asking for a report on the efficacy of council seeking accreditation in this program.
The program aims to assist women and men who are subject to domestic violence.
Mayor Greenhill, a White Ribbon ambassador, described the domestic violence statistics as “horrific.”
Councillor Don McGregor was supportive of the program.
“Everything we can do to halt this carnage we should do,” he said.
The motion was carried unanimously.
