Effie Maroulis from Glenbrook was already having a good week on just day two of opening Shop 64 at the site of the old Woodford Post Office.
The former owner of Faulconbridge Olde Wares and Antiques at St George’s Cresent opened her new business last Thursday and had had several visitors – a Japanese lantern and a wrought iron planter just a few of the items sold.
“It's a small shop with smaller prices,” she said of her 40 square metre premises. “Beautiful things are a bit of a passion.”
The shop has antiques and old wares, as well as retro and industrial pieces. The shop is open Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm. On the other days Ms Maroulis is busy scouring for, and cleaning, new stock. She plans to have a board on the front door where locals can show photos and sell their own stock.
Ms Maroulis said it was “vital that there's shops around Woodford” adding she was sure the community “would like to see a small supermarket open up”.
