Blue Mountains Police have called for assistance following a suspicious bushfire at Katoomba.
About 3:20 on Monday August 29, NSW Fire and Rescue were notified of a bushfire near Mini Ha Ha Track Car Park, Mini Ha Ha Road, Katoomba.
The fire was about 500m down the fire trail from the car park. The Rural Fire Service were contacted and attended the scene. The fire took hold and destroyed bushland for an area of approximately 200m x 50m and had it not been for the efforts of the RFS officers who extinguished the fire, had the potential to cause further damage. Police are now investigating the cause of the fire.
Issuing a statement on September 1, police have asked anyone who was near Mini Ha Ha Track Car Park and trail between 2.30pm and 5.30pm on August 29 to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
