The Labor Party looks to be the dominant group on Blue Mountains City Council after Blue Mountains mayor Mark Greenhill increased his vote to secure two ALP councillors in Ward 4 for the second time.
Voting figures late on Saturday night had Cr Greenhill winning 50.9 per cent of the primary vote with the Liberal Party’s Brendan Christie second on 31.9 per cent of the primary vote.
The Labor Party is also set to win spots in Wards 1, 2 and 3 based on election night results.
Independent Shae Foenander has been elected in Ward 3 with 25.7 per cent of the primary vote, behind the Liberal Party on 29.6 per cent and Labor on 30.7 per cent, based on election night results.
Labor’s Romola Hollywood clearly topped the poll in Ward 2, but the two remaining council spots were unclear on election night with Independent Rob Thompson narrowly leading the Liberal Party’s Chris Van der Kley. The Greens were in last place but preferences could play a role in deciding the final two spots.
The Greens topped the primary vote in Ward 1 on election night with 28.9 per cent of the vote, followed by Labor on 28 per cent and the Liberal Party on 20.1 per cent.
