More than $66,000 has been raised following the endurance event Blue Mountains Trek for Timor on September 17.
There was the choice of three distances to take part in: 15km, 30km or 50km, with the first teams leaving Wilson Park in Wentworth Falls at 6am.
Around 200 keen walkers, and over 100 volunteers took part. The day didn't finish for some walkers until 9pm, and for some volunteers until 11pm. It was perfect for walking thanks to the weather deities who held the rain off until Sunday.
Head of logistics and chair of the Trek for Timor organising committee, Dave Ludenia, said: "Thanks to generous donations, over $66,000 has been raised so far to fund several projects for education, health and empowerment of our neighbours in East Timor."
Blue Berrans team members who have completed several other 50km treks commented on how organised the event was.
"We have been on four 50km walks and this was the best run, with signage and volunteers where they were needed. Thank you and congratulations to all the volunteers for an incredible job well done," they said.
The Trek for Timor organising committee said there were many generous sponsors of goods, funds and time, which was greatly appreciated.
"The 2016 Blue Mountains Trek for Timor was made possible thanks to the hard work of a wonderful group of volunteers, sponsors and supporters," Mr Ludenia said.
