A humidifier left running in a Lawson home on Saturday while the occupants went out has proved a costly exercise.
The occupants left the Hay St home about 9am on Saturday and emergency services were called at 10.15am when smoke was noticed coming from the home.
Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire, but a considerable amount of smoke, heat and water damage had occurred.
Dirt bike stolen
A 2015 KTM 50cc dirt bike was stolen from a shed on Shelton St, Winmalee, overnight on September 22.
If anyone is approached with an offer to sell a dirt bike or they see a dirt bike with engine number 0545215251, they should contact Springwood Police on 4751 0299.
Storage units broken into
Property was stolen from storage units at a commercial complex in Attunga Rd, Blaxland, between 2.30am and 3.30am on September 22.
Police are awaiting confirmation from the victims about what was stolen.
CCTV footage captured a man leaving the scene with two bags. Police are awaiting the results of a forensic examination of the units.
Break and enter
A home was broken into in Mt Piddington Rd at Mt Victoria on September 24. Police responded to a call at 11.30pm to find the house in darkness and front door open. A number of items were left behind outside. Police are unsure what property was stolen as they are attempting to contact the owner.
Denied entry
A 31-year-old Wentworth Falls man has been charged following an incident at a licensed premises in Katoomba about 1.30am on September 25. Police allege the man had consumed a quantity of alcohol before attempting to enter the premises.
Due to his level of intoxication it’s alleged the security personnel denied him entry, and he attempted to gain entry by kicking and punching a closed glass door, causing it to crack.
Staff were also threatened with violence. He was charged with being an excluded person and remaining in the vicinity of a licensed premises, maliciously damaging property, and affray. Granted conditional bail, he will appear for mention in Katoomba Local Court on October 10.
Stolen car
A 2010 silver Mitsubishi Colt with NSW plates BPA60N was stolen from the Great Western Highway in Blaxland between 6.45pm and 10.20pm on September 22. Contact Springwood Police if the car is seen, but do not approach the vehicle.
