The Lookout, Echo Point’s newest venue, Bar NSW, has won “One Glass” at the Gourmet Traveller Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards 2016 for its beverage list featuring solely NSW produce.
Celebrating this achievement is Andres Aragon, Food and Beverage Manager and Group Sommelier, and his team who have worked to redefine the Blue Mountains’ food and beverage scene.
Bar NSW is the only bar in the state that sells purely NSW wines, beers and spirits, and Mr Aragon has attracted wine-lovers to the Mountains by utilising technologies such as an Enomatic wine machine allowing premium wines to be available by the glass.
“The Blue Mountains is an incredible part of Australia that experiences a regular influx of visitors and residents with a passion for good food and wine,” he said. “We have worked to bring the best of Australia’s food and beverage to the The Lookout, Echo Point so that people can enjoy the amazing scenery with comparably amazing produce.”
The “Glass” winners were selected by an expert team of judges who looked at the nation’s leading restaurants to create a list of the very best venues to enjoy the greatest wines, aperitifs and digestives.
Quality must be key to the choice of wines but it is not the only selection criteria. The wine list must have an original and innovative choice with some mature wines from good vintages, avoiding poor vintages and an appropriate variety of wines by the glass. The menu must also feature the adequate list of aperitifs, beers, spirits, liqueurs and waters.
This award marks a significant achievement for Bar NSW and The Lookout, Echo Point which now exists as a world class food, wine and hospitality venue focused on NSW produce.
