Taronga’s Zoomobile will be bringing many of their favourite reptilian residents – and a few surprise guests – to meet the community at the Blue Mountains Conservation Society’s Family Bush Day at Lawson this month.
Frog enthusiasts will revel in the collection of the Frog and Tadpole Study Society and learn about creating frog-friendly habitats.
And for those with their eyes on the skies, the Blue Mountains Bird Observers and Birdlife Australia Southern will also be running lots of fun activities.
“The Family Bush Day is a terrific chance to learn about the natural world around us and our native wildlife in a fun and interactive environment,” said Tara Cameron, senior vice president of the Blue Mountains Conservation Society.
The day, which is at the Mid Mountains Community Centre on New Street in Lawson, is being held on Sunday, October 16 and costs just $2 per person and $5 for families.
“Whether you’re passionate about spotting frogs, curious about reptiles, enchanted by stick insects or keen to know more about our stunning birdlife, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” Ms Cameron said.
The artistically inclined can join illustrator and author of Australian colouring book, Wildscapes, Stephanie Holm at her workshops: Drawing Nature and Colouring Nature.
And an interpretive self-guided walk will explore the bushland, waterfalls and beaches of the Lawson Waterfall Loop Track.
