Winmalee gymnast Justin Fokes is springing his way to the top.
The 15-year-old Winmalee High student came home from the National Clubs Gymnastics Carnival in Bendigo last week with two gold medals and a bronze, and an award for the athlete of the meet.
The golds were in the trampolining and double mini trampoline categories, and the bronze in tumbling.
The trampolining event required 10 skills such as twists and double somersaults, to be performed in the air in just 15 seconds, including landing on the stomach.
Justin’s pointscore saw him miss out on a place in the national junior gymnastics squad by just half a point, and he is determined to make the team next year.
Justin trains four times a week, for up to four hours at a time, at the Kachan School of Tumbling and Performance in Windsor.
“I like jumping around and doing somersaults,” he said.
