Multiple firefighting crews responded to reports of a grass and bushfire about 9.30pm on Monday in Katoomba.
Fanned by strong winds, a 100sqm area was alight at the end of Third Avenue in Katoomba, taking crews more than two hours to extinguish.
The fire was in an area of fire trails in bushland and was difficult to access. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Police are asking for assistance to help identify a man (pictured below right), in relation to a malicious damage incident at Hazelbrook Railway Station about 6.40pm on Friday, September 9.

Unit blaze
Fire crews stopped an apartment blaze from spreading in Springwood on Wednesday, October 5.
About 2pm, firefighters found the balcony in the Boland Avenue unit well alight, with fire spreading inside the unit. Firefighters gained entry through a locked door to extinguish the blaze and prevent further damage to the interior.
Police are investigating.
Cyclist injured
In the early afternoon on Friday, October 7, a cyclist went over their handle bars on the Great Western Highway at Springwood.
The cyclist was transported to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition.
