A 20-year-old Katoomba man was found carrying a 1m long sword and a 2m metal pole around Bathurst and Parke Streets in Katoomba about 4.30pm on October 20.
Blue Mountains Police Acting Detective Inspector Adam Evans said the man claimed he was carrying the sword, which was a replica of one from the movie Lord of the Rings, for self defence.
He was charged with custody of a knife in a public place, subsequent offence, and will appear in Katoomba Local Court on December 5.
Graffiti in Blaxland
A 22-year-old Wentworth Falls man will face court on graffiti offences.
The man was seen climbing a fence near Blaxland High School and entering the rail corridor about 8am on October 23.
Police called out to the man and he took off, police catching up with him up to 1km further on.
He was observed with black texta on his hands and was carrying two spray paint cans.
The man was charged with trespassing in a rail corridor, possessing a graffiti implement and intentionally marking a premises without consent. He will appear in Penrith Local Court on December 5.
Birthday party accident
A 50-year-old woman was celebrating her birthday with friends at Hatter’s Hideout Cave in Dargan when she broke her right leg about 9pm on October 21.
Emergency services were called, and she was stretchered out from the cave to a waiting ambulance, about a 15-minute walk. She was taken to Lithgow Hospital for treatment.
Blackheath bushwalk injury
A 42-year-old woman was walking along the clifftop track between Govetts Leap and Evans Lookout in Blackheath about 12.30pm on October 19 when she tripped on stairs, injuring her right leg.
Emergency services attended and the woman was stretchered out to Evans Lookout carpark, where she was then taken to Katoomba Hospital.
Stolen bell
The St Finbar’s Primary school bell at Glenbrook was stolen during the last school holidays, between September 24 and October 9.
The brass bell is at least 60 years old and has been with the school since it opened.
During this same period, a window was smashed and an Australian flag was stolen.
