Blackheath Art Society unveiled its first-ever 3D art exhibition: Off the Wall earlier this year.
The exhibition in late October featured more than 50 exceptional works, covering a broad range of media and styles.
Ron Fitzpatrick, metal artist from Hartley’s Talisman Gallery, remarked that his job as judge had been made particularly difficult by the high standard of the many entries.
Leura-based ceramics artist Robert Linigen took out the exhibition’s first prize with his evocative work, Yellow Rock. The glazes for his collection of 13 ceramic cups - one cup for each year he lived in Yellow Rock – were made partially from material salvaged from the scant remains of his Yellow Rock home after it was destroyed in the 2013 bushfires.
Second prize in the exhibition was awarded to fibre artist Mandy McAlister for her work Cocoons and the People’s Choice award was taken out by wood artist Dirk Romeyn for his Parrot Bowl entry.
The exhibition will return in 2017.
