Emeritus Professor Jill Roe, biographer of Miles Franklin, launched her memoir last month.

Ms Roe had a long connection with the Mountains and did the definitive biography of Miles Franklin which was launched in the Mountains in 2009 at Katoomba RSL.

The great Australian national treasure and Australian literary historian’s memoir, which is called Our Fathers Cleared the Bush, is now available at Megalong Books for $29.95.

Ms Roe also recently received a medal for her lifelong service to the Australian Dictionary of Biography [ADB].

Ms Roe helped chart Australia’s national identity through her writing and has had a long and distinguished connection with ADB, completing many entries and serving on their editorial board as chair.

Professor Desley Deacon made the award presentation at Ms Roe’s home in the Central Coast on behalf of Professor Tom Griffiths, ADB chair. Chris Cunneen, a former ADB editor from Bullaburra recommended she receive the award.
