A man has been charged after a campfire that he allegedly lit spread and turned into a scrub fire at Hawkesbury Heights.
The alleged fire took place during during yesterday’s total fire ban.
Emergency services were called to bushland off Hawkesbury Road about 9pm on Friday after a passer-by noticed the campfire was out of control.
It burnt an area of about 50 metres by 30 metres, before being extinguished.
A 51-year-old man was arrested by police from Blue Mountains Local Area Command and charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless to its spread.
The Victoria man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today, December 3.
