Have you ever wanted to stroke a barn owl, score a goal in Quidditch, hitch a ride on the Knight Bus or risk eating a mouthful of Bertie Bott’s Beans?
Fans of J K Rowling’s magical world can enjoy a day of Harry Potter style experiences – including all of the above - at an event being organised by Megalong Books in Leura.
“Rowling’s imagination is so expansive, she’s created something that’s so much fun to play around with” said event organiser Jenny Gorman.
“Hopefully we can create a day that gives local kids and families a taste of things they have read about in the books, or seen in the movies.”
The event will be held during the school holidays, on Monday January 16.
Ms Gorman said a ticket “would make a great present for the Harry mad person in your life. People are often looking for ‘experience’ gifts, rather than just giving more stuff, and also for things that can be done together as a family”.
Participants will catch the Knight Bus to the atmospheric Mount Victoria Manor. Once there, they’ll be involved in magical lessons – the Care of Magical Creatures class will involve real owls, spiders and snakes – and other exciting activities, including the chance to ride a Hagrid style motorbike or play Quidditch on broomstick.
Tickets are available from Megalong Books (4784 1302 or books@megalongbooks.com.au ) and part proceeds of the day will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Tickets cost $82 each or $77 for three of more tickets, Bookings via www.megalongbooks.com.au.
