Louie Douvis had often driven past the lady feeding lorikeets and had always wanted to stop and ask her why she did so every day.
When he finally approached her, she was adamant she would only ever feed the lorikeets, and refused to feed ibises and pigeons that were in the area.
Douvis says this was integral to the composition of his photo.
"That's why I've got like a little pigeon just sort of sitting up on the window sill just on the side of the house, sitting there all lonely, because she shoos them away."
Otherwise, he says: "I didn't have to do much at all, I just photographed what I saw while she was feeding the birds."
