Chalkdust Theatre Company is presenting Red Riding Hood, a Musical Pantomime in the Norman Lindsay Gallery gardens at Faulconbridge.
Targeted at ages 3-12, children are sure to enjoy this energetic and hilarious performance. The play is the perfect school holiday activity and a fantastic fairytale adventure for the whole family.
Follow Red Riding Hood as she journeys deep into the heart of the Deep Dark Wood to visit her Grandma. But all is not quite what it seems: Grandma has big eyes and big teeth. And she’s hairy. Very hairy.
The interactive musical play includes songs, larger-than-life characters, games and lots of fun.
Chalkdust Theatre Company is a not-for-profit community theatre group. The organisation, primarily consisting of teachers from the Blue Mountains and Penrith area, has always had a strong educational focus.
It usually produces professional quality plays for HSC Drama and English students, but this year the committee decided to put on something for a much younger audience.
Chalkdust aims to entertain and engage children in theatre and to experience the magic that comes with it.
Director of Red Riding Hood, Sara De Vries, said: “Doing a show for kids is so rewarding for all involved, it is a pleasure hearing kids laughing along and having fun.
“When children are engaged in a fun story and getting excited about the characters, we know that we have done our job.”
The performance will take place from January 17-20 (11am) and January 21 and 22 (2pm).
As the performance will be played outdoors, feel free to bring picnic blankets. In the event of extreme weather, the event will be moved to Springwood High School’s hall just down the road.
Tickets are $15 each (infants 0-2 years are free) and can be purchased from www.trybooking.com/nxiq or at the venue on the day. The show runs for approximately one hour.
