PJ Lane, the son of show business royalty Don Lane and television star in his own right, heads to The Joan on Wednesday, January 25 to tell the story of his father’s journey from old Vegas showrooms through to the golden years of Australian entertainment.
Down Memory Lane is an exciting dose of nostalgia in the variety style of The Don Lane Show. PJ Lane performs alongside Donna Lee, Ross Maio, the Greg Hooper Quintet and dancers to create a dazzling show that chronicles the life of an entertainment legend.
Gracing living rooms for over 40 years, Don Lane, affectionately known as the Lanky Yank was an icon of Australian entertainment and a leading figure in the golden era of television - hosting his own show, Sydney Tonight, and partnering alongside legendary entertainers Bert Newton and Graham Kennedy.
Showing how showbiz style runs in the family, PJ Lane will bring much loved cabaret-style songs to life including Just a Gigolo, Sinatra Melody, Yankee Doodle as well has his father’s most famous closing song, You’re My Everything. PJ will sing alongside seasoned performer Donna Lee, daughter of television and musical theatre star Gloria Dawn. Together they will transport their memories to the stage for all to enjoy.
Donna Lee, will delight her audience with her love of performing and take you on a journey with well-known Doris Day favourites, including Everybody Loves a Lover; Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps; Tea for Two and Que Sera Sera.
Special guest Ross Maio will take your breath away with his flashing virtuosity on the piano accordion as he renders the music of Carnival of Venice, Dark Island and La Cumparsita.
Down Memory Lane is sure to leave you feeling happy and uplifted.

In 2017, The Joan offers treats and legends aplenty from the incredible Tom Burlinson with his Simply Sinatra, to a Gilbert and Sullivan showcase featuring television personality Andrew O’Keefe, and a welcome back for familiar favourites the NSW Police Band, the Golden Boys of Aussie Rock’n’Roll and Lonnie Lee.
Along the way The Joan will celebrate Elvis, The Beatles and many, many more as the community comes together for another great year of marvellous music.
The Come along Down Memory Lane show starts at 11am and finishes around 12.30pm.
