The Blue Mountains Theatre is thrilled to present a memorable and intimate performance by Aria award-winning artist, Lior. Lior’s celebrated music will be given new life as it is performed with a string quartet, exploring tracks from his rich music catalogue – including the renowned, beautiful ballad This Old Love – as well as new material from his upcoming album.
Lior is a critically acclaimed Australian songwriter and performer. While comparisons could be made to Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright, it’s Lior’s rich, powerful voice and gentle and dexterous guitar playing that creates his unique tonal blend, with hints of Middle Eastern influences expressed in soaring falsettos and serpentine melodies.
One of the most successful independent artist debutants in Australian music history, Lior has headlined and performed at Australia’s best music festivals, including Splendour in the Grass, Woodford and Port Fairy. Internationally, Lior has wowed the crowds at WOMAD festivals in the UK, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand and the Spiegeltent at the Edinburgh Festival.
Carole King personally asked for Lior to be the support act for her and James Taylor’s Australian Arena tour.
More recently, Lior received glowing reviews for his performance in the role of Motel in the acclaimed production of Fiddler on the Roof at the Sydney Opera House which also starred Anthony Warlow.
“Lior shines with a light reminiscent of the late Jeff Buckley.” (Sydney Morning Herald)
