Ella Sieffert stepped on centre court at the Australian Open last week and met some of her longtime idols.
The 11-year-old from Glenbrook, with 11 other rising tennis stars from across the country, was selected in the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Program.
She had the opportunity to play in Rod Laver Arena and take a behind-the-scenes look at what’s involved in being a world-class athlete.
The Glenbrook Community Tennis Club player on Thursday met Australian wheelchair tennis star Paralympian Dylan Alcott, who took gold in the quad singles in Rio, as well as quad doubles alongside Heath Davidson.
Ella then attended an official ceremony at Rod Laver Arena, where presentations were made by former world number eight tennis star Alicia Molik.
Ella enjoyed her trip away. “I had so much fun playing on Rod Laver Arena and watching all my favourite tennis stars play,” she said.
“I can’t wait to go back to the Australian Open and hopefully play there again one day.”
