The movie Hidden Figures, a true story based on the key roles of three female mathematicians in the early days of American space exploration, is the attraction for the latest Glenbrook Cinema Charity Night on February 12.
Lower Blue Mountains Rotary President Pamela Noal expressed warm thanks to Cinema proprietor Ron Curran for the opportunity to once again raise funds for the club’s local youth projects and The Rotary Foundation.
“Our recent Sunday night charity screenings have proved very popular and we look forward to members of the community joining Rotary members for this fun social occasion,” she said.
“We will again offer prizes for best dressed patrons playing to the theme of science, maths and space research.”
Bookings are with Rotarian Sue Bell on 0409 834 646 and are priced $20 each, which includes finger food, light refreshments and cinema seating.
Doors open at 6pm, theme judging will take place at 6.30pm and cinema seating at 6.45pm prior to screening of the movie at 7pm.
Ms Noal said the club is constantly seeking funds to support Rotary’s many brilliant youth programs.
“We have just sponsored a local resident to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp at Narrabeen and our latest youth exchange student, Calvin Canterbury, leaves for Brazil this week.
“Similarly, the Rotary Foundation is one of the world’s largest private foundations doing good in the world – specialising in projects like literacy, fresh water, child and maternal health and peace and conflict resolution,” she said.
