Lower Blue Mountains Rotary president Pamela Noal has invited Blue Mountains residents – and beyond – to take part in Australia Day party on Glenbrook Park on January 26.
“Final details are now being put in place and our Rotary Club guarantees a fun day out for the entire family,” she said.
‘Our members take great pride in the quality and diversity of attractions and entertainment available each year. Intensive planning began six months ago and we all are ready to rock ‘n’ roll.
‘We believe we deliver the best Oz Day celebrations in the Mountains/Penrith region and the best part is that there is no expensive entry charge. Patrons may make a gold coin donation at various entry points.
“It’s possible for families to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere at minimal cost.
“Rotarians see the event as our club’s gift to the community at a time when family budgets are often stretched to near breaking point,” she said.
The club’s Australia Day committee chairman, Drew Fitzpatrick, said members of the organising committee paid great attention to detail and worked hard to ensure there were attractions for patrons of all ages and interests including:
- The Wild Ride – for thrill seekers who get a buzz from riding motorised trikes.
- Police and Citizens Youth Club Interactive Trailer complete with challenging electronic games.
- A collection of special interest motor vehicles – from classic Police vehicles, the Austin A40 club and the Blue Mountains Historical Car Club to machines within the Torana, Jaguar and Mustang Car Clubs
- The ever popular Australian Gnome Convention – again offering a FREE Gnome painting service for old Gnomes deserving of a ‘makeover’.
- An impressive line-up of quality musical entertainment on stage in the big tent.
- The canine stars of the Springwood Dog Training School.
- Children’s athletic events in the best Aussie bush traditions – egg and spoon, three legged and sack races.
- The spectacular Care Flight helicopter and the Springwood Rescue Squad vehicle.
- A variety of rides and games including laughing clowns, jumping castle, train rides and the cup and saucer ride; along with unique activities for children of all ages, including face painting, fairy floss and the games tent.
Ms Noal emphasised that Rotary is all about serving the community.
“We are an organisation of business and professional men and women, united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
“I urge citizens throughout the Blue Mountains and Penrith areas to invite family and friends from afar to join us for this proud and happy occasion. Australia Day celebrations are a time for bonding for people from all races and walks of life,” she said.
