Culturescape director Tom Taylor has reason to thank the vagaries of the Blue Mountains weather.
Rain and fog threatened to hamper the light projection art show at the Carrington Hotel on Friday and Saturday – only for the skies to clear less than an hour before showtime on both nights.
And the unpredictable weather failed to deter the crowds, with strong turnouts of families on both nights – the first time the festival has been held over two days.
Mr Taylor was worried about heavy rain on Friday night when “almost magically when I drove up to the Carrington at 7.30pm there were amazing sunbeams shining out”, he said.
It was a similar story on Saturday night. “The fog was so thick you couldn’t even see anything on the building from the projectors. It was unbelievable. But when I got there it was packed full of people standing there with their umbrellas.”
The clouds lifted half an hour before the light show was due to start. “It went from complete fog to absolutely clear in about 30 seconds,” said Mr Taylor.
