Whitney Houston’s iconic role is hitting the Sydney Lyric Theatre stage.
The international award-winning musical The Bodyguard will open on April 21.
Australian Idol contestant Paulini will take the lead as Rachel Marron, with Kip Gamblin as bodyguard Frank Farmer and Prinnie Stevens as Nicki Marron.
Producer John Frost said he couldn’t wait to watch the show unfold.
“We have an incredible cast for The Bodyguard, led by two extraordinary singers, Paulini and Prinnie Stevens, and leading man Kip Gamblin in his first musical theatre role,” he said.
“I have no doubt Australia will fall in love with this iconic story and those soaring ballads all over again.”
Based on the Warner Bros hit movie of the same name which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, the musical was written by Oscar winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman).
The story is about former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer who is hired to protect superstar singer Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.
Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
The West End hit ran for two years, and a UK tour commenced in February 2015 before a West End revival last year.
A North American tour began last November, starring Grammy nominated superstar Deborah Cox.
Performance times are: Tuesday 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday 8pm, Matinees Tuesday and Wednesday 1pm, Saturday and Sunday 2pm and Sunday 6pm.
