A man in his mid-20s has been airlifted to Westmead Hospital following an accident at Bullaburra on Friday morning.
The accident occurred on the Great Western Highway about 5.30am between a ute and a truck.
An Ambulance NSW spokesman said the driver of the ute was treated at the scene for chest, head and spinal injuries before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital. He was flown to hospital from the oval at Springwood High School.
Blue Mountains Police Detective Acting Inspector James Allen said the man was trapped for a short time and removed from the vehicle by Police Rescue officers.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
