A Sense of Buenos Aires in the Blue Mountains
It’s as close as you can get to Buenos Aires without travelling! TangoWorks is hosting a workshop and milonga (social dance) in Katoomba on Saturday, May 13. Open to all levels: even if you have not danced tango before you are most welcome. The two hour afternoon workshop will give you all that you need to dance at the evening milonga.
Come alone or with a partner to enjoy meeting the growing tango community and connecting with other like-minded people.
“The wonderful thing about tango is that you get to have the opportunity to connect with another person,” said organiser Jen Hall. “No matter what background, age, experience or cultural heritage – the common interest is tango. It’s a beautiful thing.”
all is passionate about sharing tango with her local Blue Mountains community. The upcoming TangoWorks is hosted by one of her favourite heart-filled teachers – Paul Warren (AKA Pablito).
“Pablito starts with reigniting your connection to yourself and then to your partner, And from this, even though he does not teach steps, magically we still end up learning what to do.”
Santiago, an experienced Argentinian tango teacher, travels from Sydney to Katoomba every Tuesday evening to offer classes and practicas (practice sessions).
He is now also available and keen to teach on Thursday evenings.
Tango Blue Mountains has made its home at Junction 142, 142 Katoomba Street in Katoomba. Junction 142 is the home of Earth Recovery Australia.
“The energy of this exquisite church is perfect for dancing tango. And we so appreciate supporting this highly worthwhile project that is making such a difference to our local community,” Hall said.
