Kelley Roy, a leader of the local food and makers’ movement in Portland USA, will be in the Blue Mountains for two special events on May 17 and 18.
As founder and director of ADX Portland, Ms Roy has been spreading the gospel of the maker revolution around the world. In addition, as co-author of Cartopia: Portland’s Food Cart Revolution, she has been influential in establishing Portland as a foodie heaven.
“Kelley is looking forward to sharing her entrepreneurial story with the thriving MTNS MADE makers’ community and the fantastic, burgeoning Blue Mountains food scene and helping Blue Mountains businesses develop their own ambitious visions,” said Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise CEO, Jacqueline Brinkman.
Ms Roy will host free workshops at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre from 2.30pm-4.30pm on May 17. She will be joined by Blue Mountains organic producers Epicurean Harvest and local nutritionist service, Thrive Nutrition & Dietetics.
On May 18, Ms Roy will hold a second workshop covering topics including “Making a living from your creative profession”, “Barriers and how to overcome them” and “Pricing your product”.
“This is a great opportunity for creative professionals and local food businesses to get up close and personal with one of the world’s leading change makers and a truly inspiring speaker,” said Ms Brinkman.
