Hazelbrook performer Uma Dobia is set to take the stage in her own one-night-only show and album launch at Katoomba’s Metropole Guesthouse.
Dobia has been performing in musicals since she was a student at Blaxland High School where she had her first leading role as Emma Carew in Jekyll and Hyde. She played the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd with Blue Mountains Musical Society when she was 17 before going onto play the role Mrs Lovett in the same musical with Macquarie Musical Society in 2016.
In her Katoomba show she will be singing original songs covering an array of genres from musical theatre to edgy pop, jazz and soul. The show will also feature the voice talents of Blue Mountains Musical Society performers Aarin Starkey and Emma Druett. The band will be led by another local talent, Liam Gray on guitar, and feature Hugh Lloyd on bass, Oliver Sattler on drums and David Allen on piano. Tying the show together will be Dobia’s alter ego “Carmen Modjito” a very edgy, sassy lady that will ensure a very memorable night.
The Girls on Caffeine album launch will take place at 5pm on Sunday, July 9. Ticket available for $22 concession and $25 adult through Trybooking website: https://www.trybooking.com/QGNV.
