Half a century ago, the historical phenomenon that was the Beatles released Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. And to mark the occasion the students of Faulconbridge Public School celebrated with a Beatles day on the last day of term 2 (Friday June 30).
The purpose of the day was to raise funds to purchase instruments for the band – a tenor saxophone ($1,650) and a French horn ($2,150). A showcase concert was held in the school hall with the school choirs, bands, the drumming group and ukelele performers, as well as a collaboration by students and parents who sang a medley of Beatles songs. The school community came in their best 60s and 70s outfits.
