Blackheath rock climber Andrea Hah made history on Sunday night's episode of Ninja Warrior, becoming the first Australian woman up the warped wall.
After failing to scale the wall during the heats, the 31-year-old returned in the semi-finals to overcome the 4.2 metre high wall on her first attempt.
As the first woman to conquer the Warped Wall, Andrea Hah's run is a historic one. It took six seasons in America to get a woman up the wall – and the United Kingdom is still waiting for a woman to scale the wall after three seasons.
Despite the stunning achievement, Hah's dream of making it into the grand final was shattered after her toe just scraped the water towards the end of the course.
However, the champion rock climber said she still feels incredibly proud of her time on the show.
"I feel really fortunate to have had the opportunity to actually get to the wall," she said. "So many people didn't even get that chance. In terms of being the first woman, that's just luck - it was the first ever season of Australian Ninja Warrior, so that was good odds for me."
The physiotherapist revealed after failing to make it over the wall in the heats, she spent a lot of time planning her attempt in the semis.
"The plan was to attack the wall as aggressively as I could in my first attempt before doubt or fatigue could be a barrier," she said.
Andrea’s boyfriend Lee Cossey and his brother Ben - also rock climbers - are through to the grand final, as well as Tom O’Halloran, their rock climbing friend.
"I think people underestimate climbers because they don't understand the sport and what's required," Hah said. "To be strong and fit doesn't necessarily mean big muscles."
Sunday night's episode reached a national peak audience of 3.07 million people.
Ex-Blaxland High competitor Travis Edwards was knocked out of a place in the grand finals by Lee Cossey’s stellar performance.
