One-time Linden resident Alan G. Pride led a full life, which makes his memoir a fairly rollicking read.
The adventurer spent part of his early childhood in New Guinea, raced motorbikes on Broken Hill’s deserted roads, travelled to Africa three times in the 1950s on working steam ships and eventually did car rally driving in VW Beetles.
Mr Pride was also an inveterate letter-writer, which is how his daughter, Marilyn, compiled the memoir mostly using his own words.
Ms Pride said her father lived the last seven years of his life in the Mountains at Linden.
“It's quite possible Springwood locals would have seen him tooling around on his motorcycle with side car or his red 80s BMW sedan as he enjoyed a bite at The Golden Bars and The Aroma Cafe.
Locals would have seen him tooling around on his motorcycle with side car.
