Glenbrook Cinema has pulled a major coup in securing a premiere screening of the Judi Dench movie, Victoria & Abdul, for the next Rotary Charity movie night on Thursday, September 14.
The Glenbrook charity night coincides with the release of the movie around Australia – and proceeds will benefit Rotary’s youth programs in the Lower Mountains and The Rotary Foundation projects in developing countries.
The Lower Blue Mountains Rotary charity movie nights have been hugely successful with near capacity crowds in recent months and are staged in partnership with the Glenbrook Cinema.
Organisers advise a slightly later starting time – 6.30pm for finger food and refreshments – for the September 14 event. Cinema seating at 7.30 pm.
Theme for the night will be Indian/British royalty and, as usual, suitable prizes will be presented to the best dressed individuals and couples.
Everyone is welcome and fancy dress is optional. However, community members always enjoy the colourful costumes and the fun atmosphere of the Rotary movie nights at Glenbrook.
Tickets are $25 each and bookings must be made with Rotarian Gaye Van Der Meer on 0430 433 717.
Lower Blue Mountains Rotary President Rennie Schmid said that current Youth projects include sponsorship of exchange students, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, primary school student recognition and other significant support programs whilst The Rotary Foundation has many outstanding projects like eradication of polio, peace and conflict resolution, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, education and literacy and economic and community development.
Community members are always welcome to attend the regular Rotary meetings at the Emu Plains Sports Club and should ring Kathy Powell (0413 246 165) or president Rennie (0407 745 616) to make arrangements.
