Before the smash hit series, there was the movie!
REWIND Video Club, the Blue Mountains Theatre’s monthly retro movie night, returns with seventies sci-fi classic Westworld (PG) on Friday, September 15 at 8pm.
For $1,000 a day, vacationers can indulge any whim at the theme park Westworld. They can bust up a bar or bust out of jail, drop in on a brothel or get the drop on a gunslinger. It’s all safe: the park’s lifelike androids are programmed never to harm the customers. But not all droids are with the program. It’s man versus machine – in a tomorrow that isn’t big enough for the both of them.
From writer/director Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Twister), Westworld was a smash when released in 1973 and still holds up today.
Featuring an unforgettable performance from Yul Brynner as 'The Gunslinger', Westworld is a cautionary tale not just of technology gone wrong, but about the fault in our own humanity.
Doors and bar open at 7pm, movie at 8pm. Tickets are just $12 at the box office, 4723 5050 or www.bluemountainstheatre.com.
