Mason Ingram will wear the green and gold in England in January, when he takes part in the Under 19s Australian Schoolboys Tour.
The 17-year-old Blaxland High student from Glenmore Park was excited to gain selection.
“I’m really proud. I’ve never done it before. I’m keen to represent Australia,” he said.
The defender was selected after making an impression at the NSW Combined High Schools carnival in May and the NSW All Schools competition in August.
Ingram has been playing football since age five. His dad Martin, who used to play football in England, has taught him a few skills.
On the three-week tour in January, they will be playing teams from England, Wales and Scotland and there will be talent scouts on hand.
“I hope to get noticed,” he said. “I could easily live there [in the UK if he secured a contract]. I’m really looking forward to representing Australia and to the tour. It will be a great experience.”
Ingram plays for Sydney West and Blacktown City.
