Get the kids off the couch and into nature these school holidays, with an exciting chance to meet some of Australia’s bird species at Scenic World in Katoomba.
Take Flight is a free interactive bird show that showcases some of Australia’s most spectacular bird species as they fly overhead in an outdoor amphitheatre.
Led by the founder of the Feathered Friends bird sanctuary, Ravi Wasan, Take Flight takes a closer look at the behaviour of bird species and provides a glimpse into their distinctive personalities in a hands-on family-friendly performance.
Built on a foundation of future learning, the show aims to educate the audience about avian conservation and dispel common misconceptions about how to treat sick and injured birds in the wild.
Visitors will also be able to meet a few scaly friends after the show and hold reptiles in their own hands.
“Take Flight is all about increasing awareness in a way that’s fun and relatable, and providing visitors with knowledge they can share within their community,” said Mr Wasan, who has dedicated his life to rehabilitating sick and injured birds.
“We want to provide an entertaining and transformative experience that touches on topics such as conservation and sustainability, and inspires the audience to make active change.”
Scenic World’s Head of Marketing and Events, Amanda Byrne, added that Take Flight was strongly aligned with Scenic World’s mission to conserve the environment and create unforgettable visitor memories.
“Take Flight ticks all the right boxes for families and nature lovers these school holidays; it’s engaging, informative, and invites the audience to interact with threatened bird species like never before,” she said.
Take Flight runs for 20 minutes at 1pm and 3pm during the school holidays from September 25-29 and October 3-6. Entry to the show is free with admission to Scenic World
