Olympian Jessica Fox posted an emphatic win in the single kayak event at the Canoe Slalom World Championships in France earlier this month.
The former Blaxland High student was unbeatable in the women’s K1 final, which made up for the disappointment of finishing outside the medals in the women’s C1 (single canoe) a couple of days earlier. This ended her run of three consecutive World Championship titles in that event.
Fox was over the moon with the K1 win.
“Today I’m really proud of that race because I feel like I attacked it the way I wanted to,” she said.
“So to come back this year to Pau [France], to deliver a really sweet run after some disappointments here in the past few years, it’s really awesome. I’m just so happy right now.”
Fox recorded 97.14 in the final, with Slovakia’s Jana Dukatova more than four seconds back in 101.76, with 2017’s overall World Cup winner, Germany’s Ricarda Funk, third in 102.62.
