The Lower Mountains Springtime open gardens on September 23-24 raised more than $8000 for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children.
The Rotary Club of Springwood and Blue Mountains Lantern Club combined forces for the weekend.
While strong winds and high temperatures weren’t ideal for outdoor relaxing, visitors came from far and wide to view the five large gardens at Winmalee and Yellow Rock. Each of the gardens had different features and most property owners were on hand to chat to the public and answer questions about their gardens.
Funds were raised from gate entries, a raffle, and the sale of plants propagated by garden owners and friends, and the local Oasis and United nurseries. Devonshire Teas, light lunches and snack sales also helped the fundraiser.
