Swedish police have ruled out terror as a motive after a gunman opened fire on a market in the town of Trelleborg, injuring at least seven people.
Police are still hunting for the gunman who attacked the busy market on Thursday night local time, about 8am AEDT.
Four people have been taken to hospital while others were treated at the scene.
Trelleborg is the southernmost town in Sweden, about 33km from Malmo, and has a history of gang violence.
Local news outlet Sydsvenskan reported that eight ambulances had been sent to the scene.
"It seems a little messy at the site," Ola Nilsson, manager of emergency service SOS Alarm said.
Local police are urging residents to stay away from the area.
