Blue Mountains residents are being urged to be wary of anyone claiming to be Endeavour Energy employees or contractors attempting to enter their property unannounced at night.
The warning comes after reports over the weekend of two men entering yards during the night in Winmalee and Leura, claiming to be checking meter boxes on behalf of Endeavour Energy.
“Endeavour Energy staff and contractors do not operate in this manner,” said Endeavour Energy’s general manager asset management Ty Christopher.
“Our staff and contractors work predominantly during daylight hours from Monday to Friday, with meter readers working on some Saturdays.
“Unless we think there is a risk of damage to your property from an incident on our network, Endeavour Energy staff or contractors do not need to access your property after dark.
“They will identify themselves before entering your property and carry a photo ID card with their photo, first name and employee number.”
Employees wear an Endeavour Energy uniform, and contractors from Skilltech have “Meter Reader” emblazoned across the back of their shirts.
If you see someone behaving suspiciously, contact Blue Mountains Police.
