A new round of federal government funding for young people representing their sport at a state, national or international level is available.
Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, said the Local Sporting Champion Program helps cover the costs of these events, including travel, uniforms and accommodation.
“It’s open to young people participating in championships as an athlete, coach or official,” Ms Templeman said.
Official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed championships, and School Sport Australia championships are eligible.
“I encourage each and every sportswoman or sportsman aged 12-18 who thinks that they might be eligible, to get into contact with my office,” Ms Templeman said.
“In the previous round of this grants program here in the Blue Mountains, 13 young local sporting champions were successful in obtaining a grant, and I’d love to be able to add to that list.”
Applications for the Local Sporting Champions Program close on October 31, and the application form and details on eligibility can be found at: www.ausport.gov.au/ais/grants_and_funding/local_sporting_champions.
