An 18-year-old American tourist became separated from her two male companions walking the Hippocrene Falls track at Wentworth Falls on Saturday. The woman was not able to find her way out of the valley and called 000.
Police Rescue and paramedics found the woman who was suffering from mild dehydration and a small injury to her leg and helped her out of the valley.
Flooding
The highway at Katoomba flooded during heavy rain on Friday afternoon.
Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters used pumps to remove the water and gain access to clogged drains.
One westbound lane was closed and traffic diverted while emergency services worked to clear the water.
Headbutt
A 34-year-old Sydney man allegedly headbutted another man, splitting his lip, in an argument on Saturday night near the Katoomba cultural centre. The man then tried to enter a licensed premises with a Sydney woman, but both were denied entry.
“After abusing security officers from the licensed premises, the man and woman walked to Katoomba Railway Station,” said Blue Mountains Police Detective Acting Inspector James Allan.
Police arrested the man, who was belligerent and physically resisted being handcuffed, he said.
“The woman was also aggressive towards police and tried to pull police away from the man, scratching one police officer's arm in the process, resulting in her being sprayed with capsicum spray,” he said.
The man was charged with affray, resisting/hindering police, and offensive behaviour. He appears in Katoomba Local Court on December 4. The woman appears on the same date on resisting/hindering police charges.
Chair threat
A restaurant worker in Leura was threatened with a chair during a dispute at 11am on October 18.
“A 31-year-old male employee of a restaurant in Leura became involved in a dispute within the restaurant. The male assaulted one of his co-workers and threatened another co-worker with a chair. The male was forced to the ground and restrained by other employees until police arrived,” Acting Insp Allan said.
The man was charged with three assault offences, and will appear in Katoomba Local Court in November.
Under influence
A 26-year-old Katoomba P-Plater was found driving under the influence of alcohol. He was breathtested at 3am on Saturday in Wentworth Falls and issued with a court attendance notice for a "special category driver, drive with special range PCA.”
