Blue Mountains Artfest is on November 10-12

Blue Mountains Artfest is an annual weekend art festival that celebrates the talents of local and regional Australian artists and artisans.

This year it kicks off with the opening night on Friday November 10 and runs until Sunday November 12.  The event supports and raises money for much needed educational resources for Wentworth Falls Public School.

The feature artist this year is the incredibly talented Geoff Hayes. Hayes is a Bullaburra artist whose beautiful landscapes offer a unique perspective of the Kanangra region. Hayes was the winner of the 2016 Artfest ‘Judges Choice’ award.

During the weekend there will be ample opportunity to purchase quality artworks and handcrafts at affordable prices and just in time for Christmas. There will also be exciting activities for everyone including inspiring workshops, a wearable art parade, kids’ craft area, face painting, jumping castle, live music and dancing, not to mention a delicious BBQ and vegetarian delights, as well as an eye-popping cake stall and a café on site.

In celebration of Artfest, the children from Wentworth Falls Public School have collaborated to create seven amazing artworks that will be available for silent auction over the weekend. They will be showcased in the main exhibition area, so get your bids ready.

Adults are welcome at the Opening Night from 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. There will be a chance to mingle with the artists whilst enjoying delicious canapés and a drink. You will also get first dibs on buying the amazing art and craft.

Why not indulge your creative yearnings by entering into the nature weaving, illustrating and cartooning, mandala or paperclay workshops held over the Saturday and Sunday?

Award winning local author/illustrator/cartoonist and designer Tohby Riddle will share his many skills in workshops on Saturday. On Sunday the creative spirits behind local business Branching Out will make beautiful woven spheres and Christmas trees.

Art teacher Leonie Packer will demonstratie the art behind drawing mandalas and on both days the youngsters can join Naomi Oliver to experiment with papercraft or paperclay. There are limited vacancies for these workshops and bookings are essential. They cater for ages 6+ and include workshops for adults. Find the details and entry forms for downloading on the website.
