Make a child happy this Christmas through the gift of giving.
Bus company Blue Mountains Transit is collecting Christmas gifts until December 17 for less fortunate children and families in the Blue Mountains, Penrith and Hawkesbury.
It’s an initiative of bus driver Russell Felstead, who wants to give back to those less fortunate than himself.
“Look at your kids, look at your grandchildren, and imagine you don’t have anything to give them for Christmas. A simple $10 or $20 gift card will make all the difference,” Mr Felstead said.
Gifts such as toys, toiletries and gift cards can be dropped off at the bus company’s depots in Leura, Valley Heights and Emu Plains. Gift cards can also be given to bus drivers.
“The best gifts of all are gift cards because they can go to males or females, mums, dads, and any age bracket,” Mr Felstead said.
“A $10 or $20 gift card would be wonderful, or a food gift card. Anything at all would help.”
Mr Felstead said the toy drive had kicked off with some generous donations from staff and customers already.
Volunteers from the Christmas Smiles group will collect the gifts and distribute to Gateway Family Services, Mama Lana's Community Foundation, Hawkesbury's Helping Hands and Penrith Women's Health Centre.
