Blue Mountains residents are invited to Springwood on Thursday, December 14 to celebrate the beginning of the festive season and support local businesses.
The 2017 Springwood Late Night Christmas Shopping evening will be held between 5 and 8.30pm.
The late night shopping has become a popular event in the Blue Mountains calendar and is organised by the Springwood and District Chamber of Commerce with the assistance of Blue Mountains City Council.
The Springwood Chamber has more than 50 local members who work in retail, services and not-for-profit businesses. The business precinct offers great dining from cafes and restaurants to pubs and clubs, bookshops, hair and beauty salons, clothing and shoe shops, butcher, bakers, gift shops, mechanics, real estate agents, solicitors, vets, medical, general health care and education professionals.
With the inaugural event drawing thousands of shoppers to Springwood in 2014, anticipation is building ahead of December 14. Springwood chamber president Michelle Brown said it is as much a community celebration as it is a showcase for local businesses.
Buy something on the night from participating stores and receive a raffle ticket to put in a barrel in the centre of town. This will be a chance to win a one of several hampers filled with goodies from local businesses.
No Christmas event is complete without the jolly man in red making an appearance. Santa Claus will be visiting Macquarie Road and there will be plenty of opportunities to pose for photos with him.
Nine reindeers are located in Springwood shop windows until December 14 as part of a special Chamber of Commerce promotion. Entry forms are available from CatholicCare Social Services Blue Mountains in the arcade next to Blooms The Chemist. Search the shop windows for the reindeers and return your entry. Winners will be drawn on the late night shopping night.
There is more Christmas fun for the youngsters at Santa’s Workshop at Telstra Park with face painting and kid’s craft activities.
Talented local singers and buskers will be performing along Macquarie Road, as well as local school groups and community choirs, to create a cheerful Christmas atmosphere.
Macquarie Road will be buzzing with locals catching up with friends for dinner and drinks to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season. Springwood is well served with a number of cafes, restaurants, pubs and sports club for families and friends to enjoy a festive drink and a delicious meal.
With the shops along Macquarie Road holding competitions and special offers it’s the perfect time to blitz the Christmas gift list.
