A Blue Mountains Christmas tradition continued on Thursday, December 7 when primary schools students decorated a tree in the Springwood town centre.
Students from Faulconbridge, Springwood, Ellison and Winmalee Public Schools as well as St Thomas Aquinas Primary School made Christmas decorations which they hung on the tree in Manners Park. Firefighters from Springwood Fire and Rescue NSW helped the students in the yearly event.
Springwood Neighbourhood Centre co-ordinated the project which is now in its third decade. The students met at the centre in the Blue Mountains Community Hub in Macquarie Road before walking to Manners Park.
One of the teachers this year – Rachael Younan of Springwood Public School – had previously decorated the tree when she was in primary school.
Staff at Mountains Youth Services Team have volunteered to monitor the tree for any decorations that might fall off.
