Springwood Thomas bagged their first win of the season after thwarting a Glenmore Park fight back with a superb display of batting on the weekend.
Given the opportunity to set a target, Glenmore Park were in trouble early at 7/94, but an astonishing wag of their tail helped them post a formidable 237. Isaac Hutchinson (2/24) and Ryder Stubbs (1/31) were the pick of the bowlers.
Springwood began confidently in reply and it was soon clear to the fans present that the giant had awoken and they were witnessing their team's best batting of the season. Daniel Hampson (32) and Hamish Thomas (30) set a sturdy platform, but the standout performance was to follow; Isaac Selwood turning his maiden century into a 'daddy hundred', finally dismissed for 170 – a rare and delectable cocktail of attacking batting and impenetrable concentration.
Springwood declared at 6/302, claiming first innings points and sending a brave but demoralised Glenmore Park back in to bat. With no outright result possible, stumps were drawn with Glenmore Park 0/22.
