Mt Victoria native Tania Wiseman worked in the Victoria & Albert Guesthouse as a 14-year-old.
Now, some years later, she is back – this time as the owner of the place, with her partner, Wayne Thompson.
The couple, who live in the little village at the top of the Mountains, plan to operate the historic old building as a bar, cafe and a la carte restaurant, as well as for accommodation.
First on the to-do list is to paint the exterior, which is in need of a revamp.
With their two children both in high school next year, the couple decided to give themselves a sea change.
Ms Wiseman has left her job as a manager in community services and Mr Thompson is winding down his work as a consultant on mine safety.
“I’ve always just loved the building,” Ms Wiseman said. “It’s always had a massive amount of potential.”
They hope to open early in 2018 and have already received inquiries about bookings for weddings and other functions.
