Leura Garage was transformed into the ultimate setting for a fashion parade when it hosted the launch of Leura resident Charlotte Smith's third book, One Enchanted Evening (Affirm Press), illustrated by Grant Cowan, on December 6.
Out went the tables and chairs and in came a catwalk. One hundred and fifty guests enjoyed meeting Emcee, ABC Nightly News presenter, Jeremy Fernandez.
Seven local models, wearing colourful vintage garments from The Darnell Collection, were chauffeured to the event in rare 1929 Cadillac LaSalle motorcars and paraded in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Wine flowed and platters of hors d'oeuvres from Leura Garage's extensive menu added to the stylish ambience of the evening.
Along with Leura Garage, other local businesses were involved in making the night truly exceptional including Caffeine and Gasoline, Blue Mountains Vintage Cadillacs/Blue Mountains Limos, Fairmont Resort, KFM Media, DJ Alex Salter, Lupo Marketing, Megalong Books, Blue Mountains Grammar School, and Brigitte Grant Photography.
Charlotte Smith inherited the collection from her American Quaker godmother, Doris Darnell. The 9000+ dresses and accessories showcase 300 years of fashion history and is believed to be the largest private collection of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
