Vegan activists took their campaign to Katoomba on January 27 with the first presentation of the Cube of Truth in the Blue Mountains.
Founded in Melbourne, the Cube of Truth has been running for a year in Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall and other venues in Australia and around the world.
Organised by animal rights group Anonymous for the Voiceless, the protest shows footage of animal suffering within animal farming industries in Australia. The Katoomba presentation was supported by members of a local group, Action for Animals.
Passers-by at Katoomba Town Centre Arcade stopped to view the footage, but were not asked to view it.
“There was much compassionate interest from young and older members of the public as to the plight of farm animals,” said a group spokeswoman.
“It was clear that a lot of them knew very little about the lives of the animals they eat. They know only what they see on the supermarket shelves and on their dinner plates.”
